Gail's Baby Sock

Gail’s Baby Socks

May 2005

20 peg 1/2 inch gauge loom (although I think that you could do this on any round loom)

baby weight yarn (or what would be appropriate to the loom you are using) All stitches are e-wrapped with a single loop of yarn.

Beginning row is a chunky braid wrap - Wrap loom 4 times; pull bottom 3 wraps over the top wrap.

Row 1-15 E-wrap and knit off around.

Start heel: wrap first 10 stitches of loom and knit off. Knit back over the same 10 stitches.

e-wrap pegs 2-9, knit off and then knit back over the same 8 stitches. (you are using half of the stitches on the loom)

e-wrap pegs 3-8, knit off and then knit back over the same 6 stitches.

e-wrap pegs 4-7, knit off and then knit back over the same 4 stitches.

Getting rid of holes:

Looking at the inside of the loom, pick up the strand of the stitch below peg 3 and put it on peg 4 (2 strands) and from below peg 8 and put on peg 7.

E-wrap pegs 3-8 and knit off and then knit back over the same 6 stitches. Be sure that you pick up both bottom stitches when there are 3 on a peg. You are picking up yarn from the stitch below the one right below the peg.

Now pick up the strand below 2 and put it on 3 and the strand below 9 and put on 8. Knit back and forth in the same manner.

Now pick up the strand below 1 and put it on 2 and the strand below 10 and put on 9. Knit back and forth in the same manner.

Now pick up the strand below 20 and put it on 1 and the strand below 10 and put on 9. E-wrap and continue around the entire circle. I work another 15-20 rows beyond this and finish it off.
